FNHC Working Groups

The FNHC created three working groups to serve as “the arms and legs” to the Council. The Working Groups carry out work between quarterly FNHC meetings and report on progress at duly convened FNHC meetings. The FNHC Chair also informally provides monthly updates to FNHC members.


FNHC Policies Working Group

The FNHC Policies Working Group provides guidance, direction and recommendations to the FNHC on Goal 4 “Advance learning, advocacy, communications, and group process” of the FNHC three-year Strategic Plan and the other following associated objectives.  The FNHC Policies WG will work to define and implement an effective and transparent process for FNHC advocacy, and maintain quality orientation, reporting and communications products to support the FNHC’s accountability to First Nations leadership, and support learning, training and development opportunities that support the FNHC and BC First Nations leadership to continue to develop health governance; and, establish and maintain high functioning working processes and practices of the FNHC.

Transition and Transformation Working Group

The Joint Transition and Transformation Working Group provides guidance, direction and recommendations on Goal 3 “Provide Leadership in Transformation” of the FNHC three-year Strategic Plan and other associated objectives. The Joint WG will work together to develop a clear and regional-based process for transformation that builds on the strength of regional structures and respects roles of the FNHC, FNHDA, and FNHA.  The WG will also provide leadership to developing a transformation plan informed by regional priorities and issues and responsive to emerging opportunities.

The FNHC Collaboration and Partnership Working Group

The FNHC Collaboration and Partnership Working Group provides guidance, direction and recommendations to the FNHC on Goal 5 “Achieve Progress on Wellness Determinants” of the three-year FNHC Strategic Plan and other associated objectives.  The Working Group provides leadership to building a BC First Nations Wellness Determinants agenda from the ground up, utilizing the 7 Directives, the Regional Health & Wellness Plans, and the engagement pathway processes.  The WG also works to establish and implement a robust forward agenda for Deputy Minister Tables federally and provincially and using the FNHC Collaboration Framework, develop strong and clear partnerships with First Nations political and other provincial organizations to advance wellness determinants.
